BlogImage

Minoxidil is the first topical and oral medication which is used a as a dilator to revive blood circulation in the ailing hair follicles which is blocked by the DHT hormones and as a result the thick hair starts becoming thin, fine and one fine day leaves the body and there is no more hair growth from the same hair bearing tissue. DHT hormones are the root cause of androgenetic alopecia in men and women which happens due to the rising factor of the testosterone hormones in the body due to genetic history in men and hormonal changes in women. Minoxidil is considered as the first medication to to be administered during the initial days of hair loss to provide adequate blood circulation to the follicles and control the hair loss. Minoxidil is available in 2%, 5% & in 10% of strength in the form of topical application and oral consumption. The topical application is available in liquid, foam and gel format as per convenience of the users and to be applied daily on dry scalp mostly before going to bed and sometimes in the morning, but its not advisable to go outdoors post application as it will cause unnecessary irritation and discomfort on the scalp. Women who have conceived should not apply this medication or consume orally. Clients with cardiac issues, high BP, hypertension and history of epilepsy also should avoid this medication. On daily application it slowly controls hair loss over a period of 2 months time and the starts thickening up thin strands by 3rd or 4th month time. Minoxidil is also used as a supplement along with other hair treatments and a must to be used post hair transplant on the transplanted areas. Overall it’s a very useful drug for hair loss cases but has some side effects like facial hair growth in women and high heart beat in few individuals. Minoxidil on regular application in stage 2-3 of androgenetic alopecia over a period of 8-9 months time can also regrow lost hairs and its been proven clinically by US FDA. In Max hair clinic the Aesthetic physicians and Hair transplant surgeons recommend Regain from Johnson and Johnson which is a better product and suits most the clients as its more of aqua based that IP.
